By using a document he had in his hand, Alparslan convinced Bagrat to give up fighting and instead attack Leon. Despite a Lord’s disagreement with Bagrat’s decision, he eventually followed Alparslan. However, Alparslan betrayed the Lord by attacking and killing him after sending half of his soldiers to the new castles. Qavurt’s son criticized Alparslan’s decision regarding Siraz when he arrived at the palace, but Seferiye instructed Merdan to follow Sultan’s orders and allow Qavurt to visit.

While there, Qavurt shared his plan for his son to attack Siraz. Meanwhile, Leon learned of Bagrat’s departure from the battlefield and prepared to defend against the impending Turkish attack on Ani by gathering soldiers and weapons from Sevaste and setting up a slave camp in the forest. Alparslan discussed his plan to attack Ani with his soldiers and ordered schools to be reopened after Seferiye’s suggestion. However, Cato realized that he could no longer use the children and sought help from Leon.

Alparslan discovered that new soldiers had gone to the slave camp and decided to seize it. Bagrat later arrived at the palace and demanded castles from Alparslan, but the latter’s attempt to persuade him to convert to Islam failed. Meanwhile, a soldier reported that someone was stealing bodies from the graves. In an effort to eliminate evidence, Cato ordered a spy to burn down the school and dump the bodies there.

Alparslan investigated the fire in the school and discovered that bandits were stealing only the bodies of children, which made him realize that the children were still alive. He then launched an attack on the slave camp with his entire army. Qavurt took advantage of the chaos and escaped the palace with Mansur, while Leon threatened to kill all the innocent captives if the Turks attacked.
