Reign
He rejected the authority of Mesud II and instead pledged loyalty to the Ilkhanids, ultimately resulting in the formation of his own state. Accumulating considerable power, he launched westward raids that compelled the Byzantine Empire to pay tribute for a period. Although he temporarily lost control of Alaşehir to a group of Byzantine mercenaries from Catalonia, he successfully reclaimed it in 1314. Additionally, he conquered Ayasluğ (modern Selçuk) and Angir (modern Simav). Furthermore, he founded numerous charitable institutions and mosques in Afyon.
