Holofira is her true name; after converting to Islam, she adopted the name “Nilufer”. She was engaged to the son of Bilecik Tekfur before she wed Orhan Gazi. She reportedly became a prisoner during the raid on the adjacent bridal convoy when the Ottomans captured Bilecik, and Sultan Osman Gazi wedded her to her son, Sultan Orhan Gazi. His charitable endeavors and the mosques he had constructed in Bursa made him quite well-liked. After him, a town in Bursa was named. He is buried in Bursa’s Orhan Gazi Tomb. In Iznik, an almshouse was constructed in his honor. Additionally, it bears the name of Sultan Orhan Gazi’s personal mausoleum at Tophane, Bursa (Gümüşlü).

A Tekfur daughter was Nilufer Hatun. She had been set to marry the son of Bilecik Tekfuru, but she began to fall for Orhan Gazi.

Söüt is a neighborhood of Bilecik. The Ottoman Principality’s capital was located in this little neighborhood. In the womb of Söüt was born the magnificent Ottoman Empire, which controlled over three continents. The Turks built the Seljuk State in Anatolia, which lasted for two centuries before being disturbed by the Mongol attacks from the east, diminished and ultimately fragmented into numerous minor states.

Real History of Nilufer Hatun :

Osman Bey and the Tekfur of Bilecik were pals at the moment, but the tekfur kept devising cunning schemes to capture Osman Bey. The lovely daughter of Yarhisar tekfuru, Nilüfer, had been engaged to Bilecik tekfuru’s son. The wedding would soon take place. Osman Bey and his crew were invited by Tekfur to this wedding. Osman Bey, however, a different tekfur, advised against going to the wedding. You will be slain by an ambush planned by Bilecik tekfuru. He communicated. Osman Bey then devised a new strategy to capture Bilecik Tekfur and Bilecik.

This scheme also included the abduction of Nilufer, who will travel to Bilecik as a bride. Considering how his son Orhan, who was just seventeen, was said to have passionately in love with Nilufer in Osman Bey’s ear. This is what transpired:

A gorgeous and brave young man named Orhan Bey was once strolling through Yarhisar. The septic tank situated in front of the fortification was being used at the time by a lovely young girl. They exchanged quick looks. A flame began to burn in each of their hearts at that very moment.

Mr. ORHAN
He asked, “Beautiful girl, what’s your name? What daughter do they refer to as?

Olievaera is my name. They refer to me as the Yakhisar tekfur’s daughter.

The little girl reached into the well and drew up the wooden bucket. an adorable face

You discovered who I am, he said. “Please let me discover out who you are, if you allow me.”

“Orhan is my name. Osman Bey, who resides in Söüt, is my father.

A few days after this incident, Osman Bey obtained an invitation to marry from the Tekfur of Bilecik. Osman Bey immediately sent the following letter:

“Dear friend, I just got the wedding invitation from O Bilecik Tekfuru. I hope life is good for you and your son. I won’t be ready to attend this joyful wedding because of my crucial business. However, I sent my gifts loaded onto forty mules as is our usual. They’ll have some female drivers on their mules. You must send your women to see our women, not your men, and I ask that they show interest in them. because guys are invisible to our ladies. In our religion, this is viewed as a sin.

But rather than gifts, the mules’ trunks contained forty warriors. The mule caravan was forced to meet with women by Bilecik Tekfuru. He let the fortress gate open. Those who concealed in the chest emerged when the mules entered. Bilecik Fortress was taken by them.

The wedding band had already departed Yarhisar and was traveling toward Bilecik. The route where the wedding party would pass had been set up as an ambush spot by Orhan Bey and his friends. They were attacked by the regiment, who also took Olivera (Nilufer), the bride-to-be hostage. Whom does the intent and fate belong to? The bride arrived at Orhan Bey, who he had to remember from the moment he first saw her, rather than Nilufer, Bilecik’s son. Süleyman Pasha, the emperor of Rumelia, Orhan Gazi, the second sultan of the Ottoman the Empire, and Murat I (Murad-Hüdavendigar), were all born to her.

Nilüfer Hatun Imaret (Iznik Museum) – Bursa :

In honor of Nilufer Hatun, her son Murat I (1362-1389) constructed a hermitage and soup kitchen in Iznik. It serves as the Iznik Museum nowadays. The entrance on the east façade has a 0.48 x 1.51 meter stone inscription on it. The structure is made up of a narthex in the east, two side wings next to the entrances to the south and north, and prayer rooms and entrances that run east to west.

Nilufer Hatun :

Murat Hudavendigar’s mother and Orhan Gazi’s wife. She is descended from the Yarhisar tekfunun, a modern-day community in Yenişehir. He was known by the moniker “Holophira” in real life. His name appears as Nilüfer, Lulufer, or Ulufer in many manuscripts of Neşrî (in some Orhaneli villages, the Nilüfer River is still known by the pronounciation “Ulufer”). Hammer hypothesizes that “Oivera” could have been corrupted into the name Nilüfer. Ibn Battuta refers to Nilüfer, who he was allowed to in Iznik, as “Baalm,” “Buyun,” or “Beyün” in his Seyahatname.

Nilüfer was Belekome (Bilecik) Tekfum’s fiancée. He extended an invitation to Osman Gazi as well, but Osman was attacked and wished to be killed. Harmankaya Tekfuru Köse Mihal was made aware of this circumstance. Then, Osman Gazi attacked the bridal party headed by Yarhisar in an area called Kaldirak and seized numerous prisoners after first raiding and capturing Bilecik. He wed his son Orhan Gazi, who was a prisoner, to Holophira, the daughter of Yarhisar Tekfuru and the future wife of Bilecik Tekfuru. Süleyman (Paşa) and Murat (Murat I Hudavendigar), two sons, were the result of this union.

The Arab explorer Ibn Battuta refers to Nilüfer in his renowned work as “Buyun Hatun, Orhun Gazi’s wife who lived in Iznik.” She claims to be a “sâliha and fâdla” woman and claims that in exchange for being allowed in her company, she offers delicacies and kindness. The Büyükn Hatun named here, according to historian Babinger, might perhaps be someone else, though.

Known for her generosity and love of almsgiving, Nilüfer Hatun had a kopili (Nilüfer Bridge) constructed over the stream (Nilüfer Stream) that borders the western edge of the Bursa plain, as well as a lodge in the Kaplcakap section of the Bursa fortress and a masjid in the Darphane nearby (Kamil Kepeciolu Bursa Kütük). He asserts that a different Nilüfer Hatun, the daughter of Orhan Bey, must be the owner of this masjid. It is unknown when he passed away. However, it can be assumed that he passed away before this time because the imaret (Iznik Museum), which was constructed at Iznik on behalf of his mom by the son of Murat I Hudavendigar, is dated 1388. He is interred close to his wife in the Orhan Gazi mausoleum.
